Still working on planning this weekend - give us a few weeks to scope it out.

Are you still planning on going for the kickoff?

Has anyone gone to this?

How long does it take to go through the exhibit?

I'm desperately trying to get someone to take me from the Bay Area. Starting with other cachers, then maybe non-caching friends, and then maybe dragging my parents up there. I don't particularly want to stay overnight...

I was reading about some peoples experiences on the groundspeak forums. 3-4 hours keeps popping into my head, but I can't find that number again. I could be grabbing at thin air. The more I think about it, the more that number doesn't seem right, and I can't find the info anywhere. Redding is a hard place to get people to go visit, There isn't much to see from my experience. Have you tried The GBA? They might have more information and you might be able to set yourself up with someone from the bay area.

My brother and I went through this last year when it was in Davenport, Iowa and we were on a road trip. It was near the end of the school year and there were zillions of elementary school aged kids running all over the exhibit. It was a complete blast!

I think we spent a couple hours in the museum, which included going through the maze, writing down the codes for the geocoins in a display case, buying a couple special Adventure Maze geocoins in the gift shop, and eating a snack in the museum eatery. If you were going to do it bare-bones, I would plan on about an hour.

Thanks for the info.

Seems doable in one day from the bay area to me. Hopefully it'll work out and I can get there.

It was doable in a day driving from the bay area. Although when driving with a dog that got skunked in the morning, I cannot say the drive was particularly pleasant.

It was not crowded at all.

It involved lots of reading. I admit I skipped most of it and did just what little I needed to do to open the locked rooms. Even had to lie on the floor to find a cache at the maze and it's very hard to read things that way with my eyes.

There's a bit of shopping that can be done there. I got a geocache shirt and coin that I had never seen before (turtle bay specific).

What little of the park I did see, was very nice. Walked across the bridge over sacto river.

Glad to be home though.

Forgot to tell you that it's $14 to get in. $12 if you have AAA.

Here's a link to coin I got for those coin enthusiasts:
CoinLink

Let's see if that works (never tried to do a link before)
